We are seeking a dedicated, empathetic, and resilient support worker to join an independent special school in North Bristol. This position involves fostering the social and emotional development of students aged 11-16, focusing on both individualized learning and small group support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver components of individualized learning programs in one-on-one and small group settings, ensuring proper risk assessment.
- Prioritize safeguarding by remaining vigilant and promptly reporting any concerns.
- Implement effective strategies to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), building rapport and acting as a trusted adult.
- Offer targeted assistance based on each student’s unique requirements, ensuring safety and facilitating access to learning.
- Encourage and guide students in developing skills to manage behavior, frustration, and anger.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Prior previous work experience around kids or adolescents is required.
- A strong commitment to helping students overcome learning challenges.
- Proficiency in managing challenging behavior positively and constructively.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- A solid educational foundation (GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent in English and Maths) and basic IT skills.
- A valid, clean driving license.

Additional Information:
This position requires relevant qualifications and training as outlined on the Teaching Personnel website. The quoted wage includes obligatory paid vacation time of 12.07%. While it is an interim post, there may be possibility for stability in the near future.
